Todd has an infatuation with a local cafe owner Alice Bell (Sharon Horgan). And Dave provides Todd with false information about British culture in order to constantly humiliate and sabotage him. In every episode of the first two seasons, Todd lies to cover up his ignorance and his lack of experience running a company. His situation is compounded by the fact that Todd is a habitual liar, as well as by Dave's truly nasty pranks and manipulation of Todd.
