9/11/2023 0 Comments Synergy raw kombucha reddit![]() ![]() New to San Francisco, I was already using OKCupid to date and expand my social circle, so I decided to use it to procure a SCOBY. As a daily kombucha drinker, I’d decided to save money (and admittedly develop a deeper relationship with my favorite beverage) by brewing it myself. Kombucha purportedly aids digestion, boosts immunity, reduces inflammation, increases energy, alleviates anxiety and depression, and-according to the most ardent believers-cures cancer. Let me explain: a SCOBY (“symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast”) is the fermentation engine of kombucha, a probiotic tea drink made from tea and sugar. It reminded me of a placenta, slippery and grotesque and beautiful. As soon as I could get away, I raced home to examine my prize. I made my best small talk, occasionally grazing his arm and offering a compliment, so he wouldn’t change his mind about the SCOBY. He arrived holding a mason jar covered in saran wrap. How big would it be? What would it smell like? I waited on a bench at the park. Like i mentioned earlier, the research is very new for the health benefits of probiotics but having a background in dietetics and nutrition, i can say that every one of my professors highly recommended adding probiotics into a healthy diet.On the day of our OKCupid date, I woke up thinking not about my suitor, but about his fungus. I also feel more energized and lighter - maybe it contributes to a faster metabolism? This could all also be in my head. As a few posts had mentioned above, bowel movements are much more regular. Besides the obvious hydration aspect of drinking kombucha, I do notice changes in my body. Personally, I try to drink kombucha at least once a week. Serotonin levels may even be influenced by the microbiome! We do know that antibiotics can ruin someone’s microbiome and kill all good and bad bacteria in the gut, so if kombucha (and other fermented foods) can help feed the gut and replenish the good bacteria, then why not give it a go. The microbiome seems to have more of an influence on our body than we knew before. Probiotics serve as food for the microbiome. While the research on the microbiome and probiotics is fairly new, there seems to be a link with a healthy microbiome and over all health. Honestly, even if it's not some miracle healing juice, so long as it won't be killing me I might stick with it as it's great for calories and it doesn't taste bad. So I came here to ask if anyone here actually has any idea where I could find some solid info on it. ![]() I bought a bottle of it and have read up a bit online but info online ranges from saying it will cure you of the cold through to HIV or on the other side saying It'll straight up lead to death or liver failure. Now when I hear things like that I don't normally trust it, it sounds kinda like when people try and tell me how great these crystals they have are. So when an old friend of mine saw the results I've been having they suggested I try this Kombucha stuff as it's a tea that is "super good for you and will make you feel great". I've been on a health kick for the last 6ish months and have been doing quite well. If you have something you'd like to give away, contact the mod team for approval before posting.
